Playa Grande, Guanacaste is internationally popular as one of Costa Rica best surfing spots also belong to National Park Las Baulas which protects Costa Rica’s most important nesting site of Leatherback Sea Turtles. Just a three minutes drive from Villas Kalei you can enjoy a beautiful beach with fine pale sand backed by a coastal vegetation.
Playa Grande beach has a sandy bottom and waves big enough to surf, but not big enough to prevent a comfortable swim. On the northern end of Playa Grande Beach a trail behind the rocks leads to Playa Ventanas, a pristine beach that offers tidepools for snorkeling and bathing. On the southern end is the Estuary of the Rio Matapalo, that separate Playa Grande from the closest town Tamarindo you can only go across the river by boat they are called Pangas.
